Before I go berserk in the absence of the superheroes... I picked up Desert Flower by Waris Dirie, a beautiful book telling the true story of a desert nomad’s life, illustrating the magnificent beauty of nature in the Somali desert, i could feel the drought, smell the rain, see the dance around bush fire and racing camels, hear the birds chirping, taste the simple carefree life, until the female circumcision where i couldn’t bare reading the pain that millions of girls as lil as 5 years old had to go through. At 12, She fled from an arranged marriage to a man old enough to be his grandfather, ran and ran for days risking to be eaten alive by lions. Then, she became a supermodel and now a UN ambassador, a spokesperson for women’s right in Africa. It was so intriguing, I finished reading it in 3 nights, would have been 2 if it weren’t for the powerful drowsy cough mixture that put me into dreamy snoozing mode.... now awaiting for another book adventure with ‘the curious incident of the dog in the night time’, while I hunt down Desert Children and Desert Dawn. Anyone read it already?
Anyway, i’m organizing an infant massage forum this Sat @ Le Meridien, 2-5pm. Anyone with adorable lil wonders are welcome to join in and learn about the goodness and techniques of infant massage. And of course.. how can i miss out the end credit... it is brought to you by Johnson’s Baby. *smile*
